Met up with Jen today to get in our run - we are somewhat in between training programs as originally we thought we would follow the Galloway plan that Disney provides but everyone we talk to and get feedback from recommends the Higdon plan which is 18 weeks long and would not start for another few weeks (where as the Galloway plan is 28 weeks long and already underway).  So we decided that since the Galloway plan called for 4 miles today we would do at least that amount.
It total we really ended up doing just under 5.5 miles.
Along the way we came across another one of those sculptures with the mosaic column base - this one featured a barn owl.  As we got further along on our route we once again spotted the deer grazing.  We always seem a mom and her baby but later we actually saw another set as well (not pictured here).  They are clearly used to people as they dont run off right away - makes me want to bring some carrots for them next time as I know others leave them food now and then.
This same set of trails we do most of our training on is also part of a much larger bike path, which I took advantage of back in July.  It just all makes me appreciate the community I live in and the resources the forest preserve district puts in to make all of this available to us.
